The red raspberries are great in the fall.

I harvest a few summer red raspberries, but they are best in the fall. Watch the calendar for them!

Looking Good!

Our 2+ acrea garden is a blessing to me - sometimes!!

I enjoy spending time here, but, as I get older, realize that it is too much for me to continue in an organic, chemical free fashion.  I cannot keep ahead of the weeds and the insects and desire to have a productive crop.  I am using organically approved herbicides and insecticides as required from this point forward.  This makes the garden a fun place to spend my time and not quite so burdensome.  It also allows for more design time, where my passions are intense.

Even in the winter, the garden offers such beauty!

Gourd Trellis

This is the sunrise from the other side of the gourd trellis!

There is no limit as to what one can do with gourds.  I have used fresh flowers and leaves from the garden.  My wreaths are created from the blackberry branches, cut and wrapped in the early Spring, before the sap starts to flow.  This is usually done about the same time as pruning of the grapes.

this year we hope to harvest 1000 mature gourds!

The First Gourd Trellis

Built in 2008, the trellis allows the gourd to grow perfectly symmetrical and straight.
